MIAMI — Heru announced the U.S. launch of the new PretestPro on its Heru Prime wearable platform. PretestPro runs four pretest exams in just 90 seconds. In keeping with Heru's evergreen commitment to customers, all future and current Heru Prime customers will receive PretestPro free of charge through an automatic software update.
'PrestestPro isn't just a faster test. It is a fundamentally different way to structure the diagnostic workflow,' said Mohamed Abou Shousha, MD, PhD, founder and CEO of Heru and professor of clinical ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. 'Traditional pretesting requires multiple devices and several manual steps. PretestPro consolidates these tests into a single wearable exam that runs about three times faster than traditional testing.'
'The new PretestPro is great. It saves us precious time working up our pretests, and our patients love it,' said Kelly Kiersch, PC Optometrist Assistant, Focus on Eyes, a Member of Vision Source. Learning PretestPro
Built on 15 years of vision science research and clinical validation work originating at Bascom Palmer, PretestPro leverages virtual reality (VR) and eye tracking to capture multiple tests in a single, guided workflow that produces a consolidated, quantitative report of the results to replace subjective, manual testing.
Patients are guided to maintain fixation by Nora, Heru's patient-friendly fixation target, while PretestPro runs four critical pretesting eye exams, including eight-point suprathreshold, near cover test, extraocular motility (EOM), and quantitative pupillometry including RAPD and PERRLA status. Heru has published peer – reviewed evidence across the VR and eye – tracking modalities powering PretestPro, reflecting their commitment to transparency and high clinical performance. Heru Prime users can also run Heru's Visual Acuity Testing for an additional 30 seconds, meaning clinicians can now complete 50% of their pretesting in just two minutes, allowing more time for exam lane throughput and patient education. Efficiency and Clinical Consistency
Replacing manual workflows and a roomful of legacy equipment, Heru's portable platform digitizes and automates manual eye tests for efficiency and clinical consistency. The headset can be worn in any pretest area, in the waiting room or even in remote locations. Nora, an AI driven fixation target guides the patient through various modalities, which could include the new PretestPro; suprathreshold VF; full threshold VF 24-2, 10-2, and 30-2; Esterman VF; visual acuity testing; Ishihara color vision test; near and distance cover tests; quantitative pupillometry; and extraocular motility (EOM) assessment.
