Rule named B1G Freshman of the Week

Nebraska freshman running back Jamal Rule was honored Monday afternoon, as he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance against Ohio on Saturday. Rule rushed with 122 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries while also catching two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in Nebraska's 49-21 win. His 122 yards marked the first 100-yard game by Husker freshman running back in a season opener since 2004 and the first 100-yard rushing game by any Husker in his debut since 2018. Rule's 122 yards rushing marked the seventh-highest total by a Big Ten freshman in a season opener since 1995, while his 169 yards from scrimmage marked just the fifth time in the last 30 years that a freshman had 160 or more yards from scrimmage in a season opener. With his three total touchdowns, Rule also became the first Big Ten freshman since 2021 to have two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown in a game. Rule is the first Husker freshman to earn the conference weekly honor since TJ Lateef did last season against UCLA. Rule and the Huskers are back in action on Saturday night, as the Huskers host Bowling Green. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on FS1 and the Huskers Radio Network.
