Amber Alert issued for 14-year-old traveling with her father after infant found dead on roadside

The California Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for a 14-year-old girl who authorities are searching for after a newborn baby was found dead on the side of the road in a rural area of Monterey County on Aug. 1. The teen, Diana Galvez Ortega, is believed to be the infant's mother. Ortega's father, 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez, is believed to be the infant's biological father, and is wanted for incest and child sex crimes, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office. A forensic examination conducted on the baby, whom authorities have named 'Baby Angelita,' showed that the newborn suffered a traumatic injury. (CHP) Authorities issued the Amber Alert Sunday after uncovering new details in the case. The father and daughter were most recently caught on cameras driving a white Nissan Altima with no license plates near the intersection of Constitution Boulevard and Laurel Drive in the Salinas area. Until the footage was discovered, authorities were unsure if the father and daughter were together, or if they were traveling in a vehicle. 'This newly discovered information provided investigators with vehicle information that was not previously available and confirmed that Sergio and Diana were together at that time,' the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said. Authorities have said that Ortega is considered a victim in the case and that 'her safety and well-being remain a priority.' 'We also understand there has been significant public concern surrounding Diana's circumstances,' the sheriff's office said. 'Diana is 14 years old, and our immediate priority is to locate her and ensure she is safe. We want to make sure her well-being is addressed and that she receives any medical care she may need.' Diana Galvez Ortega is described as having black hair and brown eyes. She is 4 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help tracking down the father and daughter. The Amber Alert was issued for Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Kern, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, Orange, and Imperial counties. 'If you see Sergio Galvez Perez, Diana Galvez Ortega, or a white Nissan Altima with no license plates that may be associated with them, do not approach them,' the sheriff's office said. 'Call 911 immediately. This remains an active investigation.'
