Five people died, and over 300 were cited for driving under the influence across Georgia over Labor Day weekend, according to the Ga. Department of Public Safety (DPS). During the holiday travel period from 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 4 to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, the law enforcement agency increased patrols, watching for speeders, impaired and distracted drivers and assisting in vehicle accidents across the state. Adding that 24 crashes involved drivers under the influence and 22 others involved commercial motor vehicles.
