Elizabeth Holmes is drawing fresh outrage after her X account promoted a new documentary about her crimes while the convicted Theranos fraudster remains locked in a Texas federal prison. The disgraced Silicon Valley founder, 42, has seen her social-media presence persist more than two years into her 11-year sentence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan, sparking fury from users who discovered the account is still actively posting. Her bio offers a partial explanation: 'Mostly my words, posted by others.' The account began posting in September 2025, well after Holmes reported to the minimum-security facility in May 2023. Federal inmates are prohibited from accessing social media or possessing cellphones, leaving the identity of whoever actually publishes her messages unresolved. The latest wave of anger erupted when the account shared promotional material for 'You Can See Everything,' a documentary from comedian Nathan Fielder and filmmaker Lance Oppenheim. The post featured Holmes herself in a clip from the film, which prompted one user to write, 'thought this was creepy AI.' Other commenters directed their frustration at the mere existence of the account. 'Why are you even able to post from prison?' one user wrote. 'Your demeanor is truly haunting,' another added. The 174-minute documentary, which made its debut Sunday at a surprise Telluride Film Festival screening, began filming 34 days before Holmes entered prison and stretched into a three-year project that continued after her incarceration. Audience members reportedly arrived unaware of what they were about to watch, with phones and recording devices bagged before the screening. Fielder and Oppenheim captured Holmes at home with her husband, Billy Evans, and their two young children as she prepared to leave California for Texas. The film marks the latest attempt to examine a saga that turned a 19-year-old Stanford dropout into one of America's most celebrated young entrepreneurs — and then into one of its most notorious convicted fraudsters. Holmes founded Theranos on the promise of technology that could run comprehensive blood tests from just a few finger-prick drops. The claim vaulted the company to a roughly $9 billion valuation and made Holmes's own stake worth approximately $4.5 billion at its peak. Investigations later exposed severe problems with the technology and revealed Theranos could not perform the vast majority of tests Holmes had promoted. Federal prosecutors charged that she knowingly misled investors about the company's capabilities, finances and commercial relationships while raising hundreds of millions of dollars. A federal jury convicted Holmes in January 2022 of one count of conspiracy to defraud investors and three counts of wire fraud. She was sentenced to 11 years and three months, and later ordered to pay more than $452 million in restitution jointly with former Theranos president Ramesh 'Sunny' Balwani. Despite the conviction, Holmes has maintained her innocence. 'I refused to plead guilty to crimes I did not commit,' she said in 2025. Holmes said she earns 31 cents an hour in prison and has spent time teaching fellow inmates French and helping them prepare for re-entry into society. Prison records list her projected release date as Dec. 30, 2031, notably earlier than her original sentence would suggest. The prison camp where she remains incarcerated has also housed convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. Holmes's social-media activity arrives as the documentary's surprise festival launch generates fresh attention to a case that already produced extensive coverage, books and an earlier Hulu dramatization. Whether the account will continue posting as the film seeks distribution remains to be seen.
