Hall County Sheriff's Office Reports Results of 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' Grant

GRAND ISLAND – The Hall County Sheriff's Office has completed its participation in the Nebraska Department of Transportation's 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' enforcement campaign. The Hall County Sheriff's Office was awarded $2,596.64 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation to fund overtime enforcement during the campaign, which ran from August 21 through September 7. During the grant period, Hall County deputies worked 36 hours of selective enforcement on overtime, focusing on impaired driving, traffic violations and other offenses that can contribute to crashes and unsafe roadways. The enforcement effort resulted in the following activity: 5 DUI arrests 17 speeding citations 8 citations for no operator's license 4 stoplight violation citations 1 citation for driving left of center 7 stop sign violation citations 1 reckless driving arrest 2 citations for driving during suspension 1 careless driving citation 2 citations for no proof of insurance 1 felony arrest for flight to avoid arrest 8 citations for no registration 3 citations for failure to maintain lane 1 arrest for transporting a child while intoxicated 9 minor-in-possession citations 1 zero-tolerance (.02) citation 2 arrests for refusal of a PBT/chemical test 1 arrest for carrying a concealed handgun while under the influence 4 citations for an uncovered load 1 arrest for possession of a controlled substance 1 open-container citation 1 citation for no motorcycle endorsement The Hall County Sheriff's Office reminds motorists that impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk. Drivers are encouraged to make responsible decisions, never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and always follow Nebraska traffic laws.
