‘Remain' Trailer Sees M. Night Shyamalan Tackle Romance Horror

Horror's twistiest auteur is back for a new film, following the success of 2024's Trap, and this time he's diving into a subgenre unknown to him… romance horror. Watch the first Remain trailer below: The trailer sees a romance between characters played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor. The 130 second teaser starts off normal, focusing on the romance between the duo but takes a sharp unsettling turn half way through, marked by an aspect ratio change, where the young woman becomes not entirely there. Read the first official synopsis for the film below: When reclusive architect Tate Gordon moves to small coastal town to complete his latest project, he encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell, and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town. The film is adapted from a screenplay by Shyamalan, with the Unbreakable director and legendary romance writer Nicholas Sparks collaborating on the story. Sparks is perhaps best known for The Notebook, which was adapted into a feature film starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling back in the early 2000s.
