Driver Killed, Another Hurt in Crash on La Cresta Rd in Crest, CA

Crest, CA (September 8, 2026) – One driver was killed, and another was badly injured early Sunday morning in a head-on crash on La Cresta Rd near Crest. The collision happened around 12:35 a.m. A white Chevrolet pickup was traveling downhill while a red Honda sedan was heading uphill when they collided, according to fire officials. The Honda driver, a man, was trapped inside the vehicle and died before he could be taken to a hospital. His identity had not been released. The pickup driver, also a man, freed himself from the vehicle and was found beside the roadway when emergency crews arrived. He was taken to a hospital with major traumatic injuries. Speed was reported as a factor, while distraction and impairment may have contributed as well. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation.
