Owosso woman killed in collision with truck in Shiawassee County

SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI – A 56-year-old woman died after a crash with a truck and trailer on M-52 in Perry Township over the weekend. The crash took place around 8:39 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, according to the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office. The 56-year-old Owosso woman was traveling southbound on M-52 in a compact-sized car when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line into the northbound lane. A 43-year-old Rapid City man was traveling northbound in a passenger truck while hauling an enclosed trailer. The car was struck in the rear by the truck while it rotated out of control across both lanes, according to the sheriff's office. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to the hospital with injuries. The Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office was assisted by MSP, Perry Police Department, Laingsburg PD and Perry Area Fire and Rescue.
