Alphabet GOOGL, Google's search, advertising and cloud parent, redesigned its European search experience Tuesday to satisfy the Digital Markets Act. The stock edged lower to $337.14, reflecting the updated market price.
The overhaul pushes specialized platforms such as Expedia and Booking.com higher while stripping certain prices and commercial details from Google's own listings. The trade-off is blunt: Google can give rivals more traffic and potentially dilute search quality, or risk a 460 million penalty and recurring payments of up to 5% of worldwide turnover.
Google Search and other revenue generated $63.3 billion last quarter, accounting for approximately 52.8% of Alphabet's $119.8 billion total. The chart adds a valuation warning: at $337.14, Alphabet trades 31.9% above its $255.60 GF Value estimate. The immediate fine looks manageable; the bigger threat is losing control of the high-value shopping journey powering more than half of Alphabet's revenue.
