JKPCC Srinagar Organises Awareness Programme on International Day of Clean Air

Srinagar, September 8: The District Office of the J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC), Srinagar, organised an awareness programme at G.D. Goenka Public School, Lal Bazar, to commemorate the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. The programme aimed to sensitise students and participants about the importance of clean air, measures to prevent air pollution and the collective responsibility of society towards protecting the environment. Adil Bashir Zargar, HR Director, G.D. Goenka Public School, and Zubair Ahmed Khan, Principal, welcomed the distinguished guests, JKPCC officials, teachers and students attending the programme. Vassu Yadav, IFS, Chairman, JKPCC, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Safeer Hussain Shah, Regional Director, JKPCC, and Er. Bilal Ahmad Khan, Divisional Officer, JKPCC, also addressed the gathering. The speakers highlighted the growing importance of maintaining good air quality and discussed the adverse effects of air pollution on human health and the environment. They emphasised the need for collective action and greater public awareness to reduce pollution and promote a cleaner and healthier environment. As part of the programme, debate and painting competitions were organised for students, providing them with an opportunity to express their views and creativity on the theme of clean air and environmental protection. Students who participated in the competitions were felicitated by the Chief Guest in recognition of their enthusiasm and efforts towards spreading awareness about clean air. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Grade VII Coordinator of G.D. Goenka Public School, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, JKPCC officials, teachers, students and all those associated with the successful conduct of the event. The programme served as a meaningful platform to engage young minds and encourage them to become responsible citizens and active contributors towards building a cleaner, healthier and sustainable environment.
