'It's Party Time': Patrick Meighan's Final Words to His Dad Before Fatal Carnival Accident Patrick 'Papi' Meighan was looking forward to Carnival on Saturday. By the end of the evening, his family was mourning his death. The 25-year-old was killed around 7 p.m. on Freetown Road after an accident involving a Carnival truck on Freetown Road in Belize City. Preliminary information indicates that Meighan attempted to board a moving truck and his hand became caught in one of its wheels, pulling him beneath the vehicle. His father, Norris Meighan Sr., says he first learned of the accident through neighbours, before a phone call confirmed his son had died. 'My wife went to the hospital, and while she was at the hospital, a phone call came to the house, to my oldest daughter, and she came crying, and she told me, said Patrick had passed away from an accident in the Carnival,' he told News 5. The family is still piecing together what happened. Norris said he is still waiting for police to complete their investigation before drawing conclusions about what happened. Meighan's nephew told relatives that Patrick had been riding on a truck with him before switching to another truck with friends, where the accident is believed to have occurred. Norris said he had tried to discourage his son from attending, stating, 'I was concerned about his safety with gun violence, and he just wasn't into that,' Norris said. 'He tell me, 'It's party time.' He say, 'You get too old now, it's my time.' And he just took off.' Patrick worked as a stevedore with the Port of Belize, a job where he was doing well, according to Norris. 'Patrick is the only one of my sons I would tell you would go on a truck and party for Carnival. The next six, you wouldn't get them on that,' Norris added. 'He was a fun-going guy.' Meighan's death adds to a separate fatal incident involving Forty-five-year-old Jeremy Clive 'Tambran' Hendricks.
