Khobie Martin will be out for the foreseeable future.
The Indiana running back left the Hoosiers' blowout 52-16 win over North Texas on Saturday with an injury, and will now be out until "midseason," head coach Curt Cignetti said on Monday, via ESPN.
Martin went down in the first quarter of that contest in Bloomington on Saturday with an apparent arm injury, and did not return. He did not handle a carry before leaving the game. Then on Sunday, he was seen in an Instagram story with his right arm in a sling.
While specifics of the injury are not yet known, and we don't have an official timeline, Cignetti will be out for at least several weeks.
"Khobie Martin will be out a little bit," Cignetti said. "[We] expect him back midseason."
Martin racked up 505 rushing yards and had seven total touchdowns with the Hoosiers last season while helping them on their undefeated national championship run. With Martin out, Lee Beebe Jr. and Turbo Richard handled the majority of the carries for Indiana on Saturday. Beebe missed most of last season with an ACL injury, and Richard transferred in from Boston College. Richard had 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, and Beebe had 33 yards on 14 carries. Quarterback Josh Hoover threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout.
Indiana will host Howard next on Saturday.
