RAWALPINDI, Aug 21 (APP): Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, has said that the government is actively working to promote sports and provide better facilities to youth, with grassroots-level encouragement of athletes remaining a key priority. He was speaking at a ceremony at Waqar-un-Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi, where he distributed 127 hockey kits to players from across Rawalpindi district. Barrister Danyal said the initiative aims to equip young players with essential sports gear while revitalizing hockey at the grassroots level. He said both federal and Punjab governments are taking practical steps to nurture young sporting talent. The Parliamentary Secretary stressed that collaboration between education and sports sectors can open up greater opportunities for youth to showcase their abilities. He added that sports are instrumental in building discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among young people. Referring to hockey as Pakistan's national sport, he said it is vital to attract the new generation to the game, given its rich legacy and golden history. Barrister Danyal further said that promoting hockey at the grassroots level will help produce future stars who can bring laurels to Pakistan on national and international stages.
