Transmilenio awards US$107mn cable car contract in Bogotá to Colombian-Bolivian consortium

Transmilenio awarded the operating contract for the new San Cristóbal cable, valued at around US$107 million (mn), to the Colombian-Bolivian consortium Promesa de Sociedad Futura Mi Cable San Cristóbal. Future Company Promise Mi Cable San Cristóbal is made up of Empresa Operadora de Transportes Gran Américas S.A.S.; State Cable Transport Company Mi Teleférico; and Ingeniería, Tecnología y Conocimiento S.A.S. - Inteckno S.A.S. The 124-month contract, in addition to the operation, includes an intelligent management system with automatic speed detection and dynamic programming of the cabins, and incorporates the integration of solar panels for the operation of the cabins, seeking energy efficiency and tax benefits that allow its certification as a self-generator of energy. The San Cristóbal cable line has an approximate length of 2.8km; it has three stations and 144 cabins, each with capacity for 10 seated passengers, in addition to four reserve cabins and a service vehicle. The system reaches a transport capacity of approximately 4,000 passengers per hour and direction. The beneficiary population is estimated at 400,000 inhabitants.
