Wanted sex offender flees police on an e-bike: Independence Police Blotter

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio Failure to comply, Quarry Lane A man on an e-bike led police on a low-speed chase at 2:46 a.m. Aug. 17 when police attempted to pull him over for a warrant. The officer reportedly recognized the man and knew he had an outstanding Sex Offender Registry warrant out of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office, and that he was suspected for dealing fentanyl. The man fled from police, at one point attempting to hide behind a building and doubling back and striking the side mirror of the police cruiser when the office tried to box him in. He eventually ditched his bike and fled on foot.He was apprehended by officers and placed under arrest. Falsification, Rockside Road A driver was stopped at 12:21 a.m. Aug. 17 for excessive window tint. He was unable, or refused to provide police with his Social Security number or date of birth. When methamphetamine was found inside his vehicle, the man said he had come to a hotel to purchase fentanyl. He was cited for the window tint, driving outside marked lanes, attempted drug possession and falsification. Impaired driver, Interstate 480 Police pulled over a drive at 12:41 a.m. Aug. 16 for improper display of a temporary tag and weaving outside marked lanes. One of the two passengers reportedly showed signs of drug use, and the driver failed field sobriety tests. The driver was cited for the improper display, driving outside marked lanes and operating a motor vehicle impaired. Drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs were also found inside the van.
