Good news for Limerick house hunters as 23 affordable homes to go on sale

Aspiring homeowners in Limerick have been given a new opportunity to get onto the property ladder, with 23 three-bedroom homes in Newcastle West set to open for applications next week. Limerick City and County Council will open applications for the homes at Castle Place at 12 noon on Monday, August 31. The application window will remain open for four weeks, closing at 12 noon on Monday, September 28. Prices start at €319,047, with the cost depending on the applicant's income and the type of property selected. The seven mid-terrace homes have an equivalent market value of €400,000 but will be available from €319,047. This is a reduction of almost €81,000. The 14 end-terrace homes have an equivalent market value of €415,000 and a minimum sale price of €324,047, while the two semi-detached properties have a market value of €425,000 and will also be available from €324,047. That represents reductions of approximately 20.2pc, 21.9pc and 23.8pc respectively. The properties measure approximately 102.5 square metres and come with private back gardens, modern layouts and en-suite master bedrooms. They are also A-rated for energy efficiency, with insulation and airtightness measures incorporated into the homes. Mayor of Limerick John Moran said: 'Providing more affordable homes for people and families all the way across Limerick remains one of our key priorities. 'The opening of applications for Phase 3 of the Affordable Housing Scheme at Castle Place is another important step in helping individuals and families achieve homeownership in a location where they can live, work and become part of a thriving community. 'These high-quality, energy-efficient homes offer a real opportunity for first-time buyers and fresh start applicants to put down roots.' Mayor Moran encouraged anyone who believes they may qualify to look into the scheme and apply. 'Two weeks ago, we celebrated the provision of new public housing in Kilfinane. Now it is Newcastle West's turn,' he said.
