Commissioner orders action against absentee staff

PESHAWAR - Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah has ordered action against government employees repeatedly found absent from duty during surprise inspections of public offices, health facilities and educational institutions in Kohat, Orakzai and Hangu districts under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's Good Governance Programme. The commissioner inspected a civil dispensary and Government Primary School in Mir Ahmad Khel, Public Health offices in Kohat, and Livestock and Irrigation offices in Orakzai, where he reviewed staff attendance, public service delivery and routine operations. Quaid's principles: A roadmap to overcoming Pakistan's challenges At the health facility, he checked the availability of medicines, cleanliness and staff attendance, while at the school he reviewed teachers' attendance and teaching activities. Several employees were found absent, prompting action against those who had repeatedly failed to attend duty in violation of official rules. He directed the concerned officials to ensure the timely provision of quality public services, stressing that negligence in the performance of official duties would not be tolerated. The commissioner also inspected the under-construction Judicial Complex in Hangu, where the executive engineer briefed him on the progress of construction, use of materials and compliance with quality standards. Officials said the Judicial Complex, being constructed at a cost of more than Rs500 million, was targeted for completion by the end of October this year. He said the Good Governance Programme aimed to improve the performance, transparency and accountability of government institutions and ensure better public service delivery.
