Four-time All-Star outfielder Hunter Pence and former San Diego pitcher Mark Grant join play-by-play voice Jason Benetti on the call of Padres-Giants. Ahmed Fareed will host the pregame show alongside 2016 World Series champion center fielder Dexter Fowler. During crucial at-bats in the game, 15-year MLB relief pitcher Adam Ottavino will provide 'Inside the Pitch' commentary, giving viewers insight into the pitcher's throw-by-throw approach against a hitter. The Padres are third in the NL West at 76-68 and are half a game behind the Arizona Diamondbacks for the third and final National League Wild Card berth. San Diego ranks third in the NL in stolen bases (142) and fourth in ERA (3.90). Machado leads the Padres with 26 home runs (T-13th in the NL) and 78 RBI, while outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. ranks among MLB's top 10 in hits (158 – 5th) and stolen bases (32 – 6th). Devers paces the Giants' offense, leading the majors with 36 doubles while ranking fifth in the NL with 35 home runs and sixth with 91 RBI. A four-time All-Star, Pence made his Major League debut with the Houston Astros in 2007 and went on to play for the Philadelphia Phillies (2011-2012), San Francisco Giants (2012-2018, 2020), and the Texas Rangers (2019). The former outfielder won two World Series rings with San Francisco in 2012 and 2014, and posted a .254 batting average, 23 runs scored, 43 hits, and 17 RBI during four postseasons. Pence joined the Giants' television booth in 2021, serving as an in-game analyst on NBC Sports Bay Area during select road contests. This weekend marks Pence's fourth NBC Sports broadcast this season, following Giants-Cubs on June 7, Giants-Red Sox on Aug. 23, and Cardinals-Giants on Sept. 7. Grant, who makes his Sunday Night Baseball debut this weekend, began his eight-year MLB career with the Giants in 1984, before stops with the Padres, Braves, Mariners, Astros, and Rockies. Across 233 appearances, including 58 starts, he posted a 4.31 ERA with 382 strikeouts, 22 wins, and eight saves. Grant recorded a career-best eight wins and a 3.33 ERA with the Padres in 1989. He joined the Padres broadcast team in 1996 and is currently in his 31st season as a color commentator for the team's telecasts on Padres.TV. Ottavino began his 15-year MLB career with the Cardinals in 2010 before pitching for the Rockies, Yankees, Red Sox, and Mets. In 2019 with the Yankees, he posted a career-best 1.90 ERA with 88 strikeouts across 73 games. He retired in 2025 with a 3.48 ERA, 862 strikeouts, 46 saves, and 41 wins in 727 career appearances. Ottavino joined YES Network as a studio and game analyst for Yankees telecasts in 2025 and began contributing to ESPN's MLB coverage this season. Ottavino will make his ninth NBC Sports appearance of the season this weekend. With a career that spanned 14 seasons (2008-2021), Fowler spent his first six years in the league with the Colorado Rockies. As a member of the Chicago Cubs in 2016, the center fielder was an All-Star and helped the Cubs win their first World Series title since 1908. In that 2016 World Series, Fowler became the first player ever to lead off a World Series Game 7 with a home run. This season, he has been featured as a studio analyst on Sunday Night Baseball's pregame show and as an analyst on Peacock's MLB Sunday Leadoff.
