We were too scared to look up and just sat on the floor for a while until someone alerted us that they were gone. It happened so quickly. According to private security companies two other incidents occurred on Denis Hurley Street and the other on Dr Pixley KaSeme Street, formerly West Street last week. Details of what occurred at these robberies were not forthcoming. According to the crime statistics, 2,733 business robberies occurred between April 2026 and June 2026 in the country. KwaZulu-Natal reported 471, Gauteng 920, Free State 141, Eastern Cape 270, and Western Cape 176 incidents. The Durban Central area reported 16 incidents, while Johannesburg Central reported 27 incidents in three months.
