Sony is shaking up the creative world by launching its very first fisheye zoom lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras. The new Sony FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G brings incredible flexibility and sharp optical performance to photographers and videographers alike. Fisheye Zoom Coverage from Circular to Diagonal The lens covers a focal range from 8mm to 14mm, giving creators a broad set of fisheye perspectives in a single compact body. At the 8mm setting, it captures a classic circular fisheye look featuring a full 180-degree angle of view projected as a distinct circle on a full-frame sensor. Zooming out to 14mm shifts the composition into a diagonal fisheye perspective that fills the entire frame with a 180-degree diagonal angle. This flexibility lets creators match their composition to landscapes, architecture, sports events, and dynamic video productions. High-Resolution G Lens Performance and Close-Ups Optical quality remains top-tier across the entire zoom range thanks to specialised ED glass and aspherical elements that suppress chromatic aberrations. Creators can get remarkably close to their subjects to capture dramatic perspectives. The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of just 0.15 meters and a maximum magnification of 0.22x at the telephoto end. This capability delivers stunning close-up fisheye distortion for both crisp still photographs and engaging cinematic movies. Compact Build and Spatial Content Production Weighing in at approximately 314 grams with a maximum diameter of 63.1 mm and a length of 82.8 mm, the lens is exceptionally portable for handheld or gimbal shooting. An internal zoom mechanism prevents the centre of gravity from shifting dramatically while you zoom. Filmmakers can even pair two of these lenses side-by-side with the VENICE Extension System Mini. This configuration positions the optical axes roughly 64mm apart to match human eye separation, perfectly supporting spatial content and virtual reality production. Autofocus Speed and Outdoor Durability Speed and silence are crucial when recording professional videos or tracking fast-moving action. The lens delivers fast, precise autofocus alongside Linear Response manual focus control while keeping motor noise to an absolute minimum. It also suppresses focus breathing to maintain steady framing during video takes. Onboard physical controls include a focus mode switch, a zoom lock switch, and an aperture ring featuring switchable click stops. Built to handle unpredictable weather, the lens features a dust- and moisture-resistant construction paired with a fluorine coating on the front element. Pricing & Availability The Sony FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G lens hits shelves in Malaysia starting from late September 2026 at a retail price of RM6,399. Early bird shoppers who place their orders between 9 September 2026 and 18 October 2026 will receive a complimentary GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip with Remote Commander valued at RM499. Buyers can also enjoy an RM200 purchase-with-purchase rebate when buying any full-frame camera alongside the lens.
