Franco Colapinto was self-critical about his performance in Monza and is already looking ahead to Madrid: "Let's go"

Franco Colapinto has put behind him the tumultuous weekend he experienced at the Italian Grand Prix and is already focused on his next challenge with Alpine. After finishing ninth in Monza, the Argentine driver valued the team's performance, acknowledged his frustration over a mistake that set him back, and expressed excitement about racing for the first time in Madrid. "After having time to reflect on the race weekend in Monza, I believe that, as a team, we can be proud of what we have done", he stated. In this regard, the Buenos Aires native highlighted the pace shown by the team throughout the weekend and, despite his error, praised his comeback. "Although I am frustrated with my race, we achieved a great comeback to finish in the points", noted the driver from the French team, who had reached third place during the race before a track exit caused him to drop to 16th position. Now, Colapinto will face a special date on the Formula 1 calendar: the Spanish Grand Prix, in Madrid. This weekend will be the first time the top category competes at the new Madring circuit, and the Argentine, who lived in the Spanish capital for a time, acknowledged that the event will have a special meaning for him. "We are going to Madrid for the first time, which is incredibly exciting. The circuit has a quite unique look, and we will need to learn quickly to get the rhythm", he explained. The Argentine also referred to some of the features that the track will have and anticipated one of the areas he looks forward to enjoying during the weekend. "Some of the corners are really very different —the banking of turn 12 will be a lot of fun to drive in practice— and it's clear that finding the rhythm will be key for the weekend to be a success", he stated. Beyond the competition, Madrid represents a familiar place for Colapinto. "I used to live in Madrid, so it's a city I know very well and I have very good memories of my time there. For me, it will be very special to race at this circuit", he affirmed. Colapinto highlighted the improved pace of the A526 Looking ahead to the new date, the Argentine driver is confident that the performance shown by Alpine in Monza can be carried over to the next Grand Prix. "In the last race, we demonstrated that our improved package has good pace, and we still have a lot to learn about it", he highlighted. Finally, Colapinto made clear the objective for his next appearance: to continue scoring. "Our goal in Madrid is to take advantage of it and finish in the points again. Let's go!", he concluded. When Colapinto will race again After a bittersweet Italian Grand Prix, the native of Pilar will seek to recover emotionally next week at the Spanish Grand Prix. Action at the debuting Madring will kick off next Friday, September 11 with the first free practices and will conclude with the main race on Sunday, September 13.
