PPHI Steps Up Monitoring to Improve Healthcare Services in Remote Areas

Independent Report HUB , Sept 7: PPHI Hub District Manager Dr. Murshid Dashti has stressed the need for effective delivery of basic healthcare services in remote areas during an inspection of the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Lohi. Accompanied by the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, Dr. Dashti visited the facility to assess its overall performance and review the availability and quality of healthcare services being provided to the local population. The inspection covered staff attendance, outpatient department (OPD) services, availability of essential medicines and vaccines, functioning of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) center, vaccine stocks, DHIS-2 data entry and cleanliness at the health facility. The visiting team also evaluated the healthcare services and basic facilities against the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by PPHI. Officials said regular monitoring of BHUs, particularly those serving remote communities, was essential to ensure staff presence, uninterrupted availability of medicines and vaccines and provision of basic health services. The exercise also helps identify shortcomings and areas requiring further improvement in the healthcare system.
