The High Anti-Corruption Court set bail at 266,000 hryvnias for Yuriy Polishchuk, first deputy chairman of the Volyn Regional Council. The official is suspected of involvement in a corruption scheme related to the development of a land plot in Lutsk. According to investigators, Polishchuk, along with other members of the regional and city councils, may have helped a businessman obtain the necessary approvals to build a high-rise building on the site of the former 'Snow Queen' ice rink. The prosecutor requested that bail be set at nearly 998,400 hryvnias for the suspect. Polischuk, in turn, asked for the amount to be reduced, stating that it was too high for his family. The court partially granted the prosecution's motion. In addition to the bail, the official must appear when summoned by NABU and the SAP, may not leave Lutsk or the Volyn region without permission, must report any change of residence, must not contact other individuals involved in the case, and must surrender his foreign passports. According to NABU and the SAPO, the participants in the scheme demanded $140,000 from the businessman in exchange for facilitating the development of the plot. Of this amount, $110,000 was allegedly intended for deputies and other elected officials of the Volyn Regional Council, and another $30,000 for two faction leaders of the Lutsk City Council.
