The Azorean Maritime Heritage Society awarded $8,500 in scholarships to six local high school graduates who will pursue undergraduate studies this fall. The scholarships were presented in August by the society's scholarship committee, led by chairwoman Barbara Traban. Much of the funding for its scholarship program comes from the organization's annual scholarship fundraising dinner dance.
