It was another busy weekend of Championship action, with plenty of entertainment served up across a stacked fixture schedule. Sheffield United suffered their first defeat of the season, delivering a lacklustre second-half performance as they were beaten 3-1 by Norwich City at Bramall Lane. Middlesbrough made the trip to to the capital to take on Queens Park Rangers and emerged as 1-0 victors courtesy of another goal from summer signing Will Lankshear. Away from Yorkshire, Stoke City were comfortable 4-0 winners over Charlton Athletic and Millwall defeated Bolton Wanderers by the same scoreline. Portsmouth secured a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City, Burnley were beaten by Bristol City and Preston North End egdged past Blackburn Rovers. It ended level between Lincoln City and Southampton, West Ham United brushed Derby County aside and West Bromwich Albion collected three points at Watford's expense. Swansea City and Wrexham drew in a Wales derby and it was also level in the Midlands derby battle between Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
