Daniel Bwala faces backlash after criticising Arise TV Morning Show

Special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication Daniel Bwala has faced criticism from some of his followers on X after accusing the Arise TV Morning Show crew of favouring NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi. Mr Bwala, in a post on X on Monday, alleged that the programme's anchors express strong opinions about other presidential candidates but take a different approach when discussing Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra State. He said the tone used when discussing Obi sounded like that of people advising a principal. 'Is anyone watching Arise News @ARISEtv morning show gossip trending? 'They have a strong opinion on all the candidates, but when it comes to @PeterObi, what they have is advice; even the tone of their voices when talking about Peter Obi is like surrogates advising their principal,' he wrote. Bwala also claimed that the programme had not aired any trending reports adverse to Obi since he became a presidential candidate. 'I dare to say that they never had any so-called stories trending adverse to Peter Obi since Obi has been on the ballot,' he added. His comments, however, drew reactions from some of his followers, with several cautioning him over the allegation. One X user wrote, 'You are only appointed to track and talk about Peter Obi and nothing more. If Peter Obi drops today from the race your job will be terminated instantly.' Another follower challenged Bwala to ask President Tinubu to participate in a presidential debate. One described the post as 'petty' and said Bwala should be more careful about what he posts given his position in government. 'Your opinion rubs your principal negatively instead of positive vibes,' the user wrote. Another follower accused Bwala of being frustrated by Obi's candidacy. Daniel Bwala had previously criticised Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni following a disagreement with veteran journalist Reuben Abati during the station's Morning Show. The disagreement followed comments by Rufai about PDP presidential candidate Senator Sandy Onor and APC governorship candidate in Oyo State Senator Sarafadeen Alli. Bwala described Rufai as a 'narcissistic OAP masquerading as a journalist' and accused him of defaming people.
