Indus remains in low flood at five points

PHOTO: APP The Indus River remained in a low flood at five key points on Tuesday morning, with the highest outflow of 362,309 cusecs recorded at Taunsa Barrage, according to the latest flood situation report issued by the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday. The report, issued at 6am, showed low-level flooding at Kalabagh, Chashma Barrage, Taunsa Barrage, Guddu Barrage and Sukkur Barrage. The flows were reported as above normal, with Taunsa recording 362,309 cusecs, Chashma 323,521 cusecs and Kalabagh 324,482 cusecs. At Guddu Barrage, the outflow stood at 279,538 cusecs, while Sukkur Barrage recorded an outflow of 200,050 cusecs. The FFD clarified that the flood levels in its report were based on water flow/outflow. Meanwhile, the water level at Tarbela Dam stood at 1,550.00 feet, showing a rise of 0.15 feet, while the level at Mangla Dam was recorded at 1,217.50 feet, up 0.1 feet. The data was received from the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and provincial irrigation departments, according to the FFD.
