SUJAWAL: A polio booster dose campaign will be launched across Sujawal district from August 24 to September 3, targeting approximately 175,000 children aged four months to 10 years. While During that period Newborns up to the age of four months shall get regular polio doze.
The booster dose will be administered through an advanced jet injector, a modern method described by health officials as safe, effective and painless. The campaign has been launched as part of efforts to strengthen protection against poliovirus, particularly following the reported detection of a polio case in Union Council Belo of Sujawal district.
Deputy Commissioner Sujawal Sarmad Ali, SSP Alina Rajpar and District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Hanif Memon urged parents and guardians to ensure that all eligible children receive the booster dose during the campaign.
Officials said comprehensive preparations were under way to ensure the campaign reaches every eligible child. Awareness sessions are being conducted with key stakeholders, including representatives of the health and education departments, while training of polio vaccination teams is also being completed.
The district administration and health authorities stressed that cooperation from parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders would be essential for achieving the campaign's target and preventing children from being missed.
In an effort to build public confidence in the booster dose and demonstrate their support for the campaign, District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Hanif Memon, District Education Officer (Primary) Irshad Ali, CCO Faheem Shah, Headmaster of Government Sindhi School Nisar Memon, media influencer Khamiso Memon, along with other headmasters and media representatives, received the booster dose themselves.
The officials said their participation was intended to reassure parents about the safety of the vaccination method and encourage wider public cooperation.
The district administration, health and education departments and other stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the polio booster dose is accessible to every eligible child in Sujawal, with the ultimate objective of achieving zero missed children during the campaign.
Authorities appealed to parents to cooperate with polio teams visiting their communities and to make sure that children between four months and 10 years of age are vaccinated during the campaign.
