Mandya: With the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) asking Karnataka to release 6,000 cusec of water to Tamil Nadu every day for the next 15 days, members of various organisations staged a protest, blocking the highway at Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle, in Mandya, on Tuesday evening.BJP workers, members of Kannada Sene, Raitha Sangha, and other organisations took part in the protest and raised slogans against the State government..CWRC directs Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days.Opposing the CWRC directions, the agitators said, "As per the CWRC, 6,000 cusec should be released every day for 15 days. This amounts to half tmc ft per day and comes to 7.8 tmc ft".Kannada Sene district president Manjunath said, "The Irrigation Minister has failed to make the authorities understand the ground reality. This order is unacceptable. The recommendation is being made against the farmers. When we do not have water to meet the drinking water supply, river water is being released to Tamil Nadu for the fourth crop. The state government should give poison to the farmers and then release water to Tamil Nadu".
