ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - More than 87,000 Georgia pre-K students will soon head home with a book that blends music, movement and reading.
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is distributing 'Every Amazing Song' to every state-funded Pre-K classroom and each child enrolled in Georgia's Pre-K.
The giveaway is part of Georgia Pre-K Week, which runs Oct. 5-9 and is now in its 16th year.
The book is co-authored by Coy Bowles, guitarist for the Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band, and Malcolm Mitchell, former University of Georgia football standout and Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots. Both have become outspoken advocates for early childhood education and literacy.
The book follows Coy and Malcolm aboard the 'Magic Music Machine,' inviting children to build a beat and find a melody while learning how each instrument adds its own power to the song.
The story is designed to encourage self-expression, creative bravery, music and active listening skills, and to turn reading time into a hands-on, interactive experience.
