Yankees Announce Starting Pitchers for Rockies Series

The New York Yankees are getting ready to open a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at home. New York is coming off a tough matchup with the San Diego Padres that saw them drop two of three games. But this team is still in a good spot, holding onto a wild-card spot in the American League playoff race. The Yankees will also be getting star Aaron Judge back from injury in this series, giving the offense a massive boost. New York will try to stack some wins against one of the worst teams in baseball over these few games. As for the Rockies, they lost two of three games to the St. Louis Cardinals. Colorado was officially eliminated from the playoffs, now giving them a chance to play spoiler down the stretch. Tuesday, September 8: RHP Cam Schlittler vs RHP Gabriel Hughes Schlittler gets the ball to kick off the series against Colorado, and he will try to keep his stong season going well. Overall, the right-hander has recorded a 2.04 ERA over 29 starts, throwing 171.2 innings. In his last outing, Schlittler allowed just one run on two hits against the Los Angeles Angels, firing eight innings. The righty has been one of the best pitchers in baseball all season long. The Rockies will counter with Hughes, who owns a 6.19 ERA over 11 appearances (10 starts). Wednesday, September 9: RHP Will Warren vs RHP Tomoyuki Sugano Warren will take the mound for New York in this one. The right-hander has pitched decently this season, posting a 4.16 ERA in 28 appearances (26 starts). In his last appearance, he threw 2.1 scoreless innings against the Padres. Warren held a 4.62 ERA in five starts during August. As for Sugano, he's seen an up-and-down season for the Rockies, recording a 5.19 ERA over 25 starts. Thursday, September 10: LHP Max Fried vs RHP Ryan Feltner Fried gets the nod in the finale for the Yankees. The left-hander will be looking to go deeper into the game here after going only 5.2 innings in his last start against the Padres. Overall, Fried has been excellent this season for New York, giving the team exactly what they've needed. The veteran owns a 2.73 ERA in 17 starts this season.
