BJP leader Anamika Paswan denies links to Rs 620 crore donation to Aam Janmat Party

Patna, Sep 8 (IANS) Bihar BJP State Vice President Anamika Paswan has denied any connection with the reported Rs 620 crore donation received by the Aam Janmat Party during the 2023-24 financial year and alleged that attempts were being made to implicate her falsely in the matter. Speaking to the media, Paswan said she had no involvement in the donation or any of the financial transactions associated with the party. She urged investigative agencies to conduct an impartial inquiry and establish the facts. Paswan said she founded the Aam Janmat Party in 2020 and served as its national president. However, she claimed that she completely severed her association with the party in 2022. She argued that since she was no longer associated with the organisation at the time of the reported donation in 2023-24, there was no basis for linking her to the Rs 620 crore transaction. According to Paswan, she had instructed her lawyer to initiate the process of dissolving the party in accordance with the applicable rules. To facilitate the process, she said she signed a resignation document on a plain sheet of paper. Paswan claimed that she later discovered that lawyers had transferred control of the party to a person identified as Gaurav Mishra from Gujarat without her knowledge or consent. She said she plans to pursue legal action over the alleged misuse of her signature and the unauthorised use of her name. She also demanded a high-level and impartial investigation by state and central investigative agencies. Reports of the relatively obscure Aam Janmat Party receiving a donation of Rs 620 crore during a single financial year have triggered questions in political and administrative circles. Paswan reiterated that she has no connection with either the alleged donors or the recipients of the funds. She called for a fair investigation to determine how the donation was received and handled and to establish the identities and roles of those involved.
