Households across Pakistan will receive natural gas for only eight hours a day under new winter supply schedules announced by the country's two major gas utilities, limiting domestic consumers to three daily cooking-time slots.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has introduced the schedule for domestic consumers in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced the same timings for Sindh and Balochistan. Both companies have implemented the schedules under federal government directives.
Under the new arrangements, households will receive gas during three fixed periods each day:
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Dinner: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The combined eight-hour supply window leaves 16 hours each day outside the announced schedule, when households cannot expect regular gas supplies.
SSGC spokesperson confirmed that the schedule covers consumers across Sindh and Balochistan and took effect immediately. The company has also shared the timings on its website and social media platforms, saying it aims to prioritize domestic consumers during meal preparation hours.
Meanwhile, SNGPL has enforced its schedule from Wednesday, November 4, citing declining liquefied natural gas (LNG) availability and rising winter demand. The company has also reduced gas supplies to the compressed natural gas (CNG) sector and warned of further restrictions.
