A prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and staunch supporter of former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has formerly dumped the party, pitching his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma, a former House of Representatives Aspirant under the ADC, declared for the APC while handling over his grassroots structure to his new party.
In a letter dated Monday 7th September, 2026 and addressed to his Herwagana ward Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed, popularly called Garkuwa Babba, said, 'the decision has been made after due diligence, wider consultation and careful consideration of my personal conviction and future political aspirations', while appreciating the party for the time and opportunities he enjoyed.
He also declared in the letter that, 'I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect'.
Receiving Mohammed Danjuma at the Gombe Governor's Lodge in Abuja, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation for his decision to join the APC and contribute to its continued progress. 'This is a significant boost to the APC', Inuwa Yahaya stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to an inclusive and united APC, Governor Inuwa welcomed Garkuwa Babba and his supporters, stressing the importance of unity, loyalty and collective effort in advancing the interests of Gombe State.
He said the APC remained open to individuals and groups who share the vision of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Gombe State, assuring the new entrant that his experience, network and political reach would be valuable to the party.
The Governor then called for continued cohesion among APC members and stakeholders, noting that the strength of the party would remain rooted in its ability to accommodate diverse interests while maintaining a common commitment to the development of the state.
Earlier, Garkuwa Babba attributed his decision to join the APC largely to the Governor's performance, sterling leadership and development record.
He commended Yahaya's achievements across Gombe State, saying, 'the Governor's record of delivering tangible development had strengthened public confidence in the APC and significantly diminished the appeal of the opposition among the electorate'.
According to him, joining the APC was a deliberate decision to support continuity, stability and further development of Gombe State.
Garkuwa Babba was received by Governor Inuwa Yahaya in company of the APC Governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna and a chieftain of the party and philanthropist, Engr. Aliyu Mohammed Combat.
