That's because Savannah Halleran is a former teammate of Lapointe's at Durham West. Halleran, a 5-foot-3 forward from Whitby, Ontario, announced her commitment to UMD over the Labor Day weekend. Halleran, who turns 17 in October, had 45 goals and 32 assists in 56 games playing with Lapointe on Durham West's Under-22 squad last season in the Ontario Women's Hockey League. She led the league in goals and tied for sixth in total points at 77.Prior to getting bumped up to the U22s, Halleran had 154 points in 73 games at the U15 level.Halleran suited up for Canada this summer — and tallied an assist — in the Under-18 select series against the United States, playing alongside Lapointe and future UMD defenseman Raeya Mackie.Halleran will play in the OWHL's U22 AA elite league with the Etobicoke Junior Dolphins in 2026-27.
