Garret Dillahunt reveals how he felt filming his unexpected nude scene as William Macon in HBO's Lanterns Garret Dillahunt has opened up about filming an unexpected nude scene in HBO's superhero series Lanterns, admitting that he was nervous about stripping down for the role. Dillahunt, 61, plays William Macon in the DC Studios series. During the Sept. 6 episode, William removes his clothes while Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, and John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, visit his ranch. The unusual sequence sees John, who has artistic skills, draw William while he poses nude. William later looks at the finished drawing after Hal and John leave. Speaking to PEOPLE, Dillahunt said he was nervous about the scene because he had not performed nude in a long time. He recalled appearing nude in some plays and other projects earlier in his career. 'I thought those days were long past,' Dillahunt said. The actor also revealed that he prepared physically for the scene because William is portrayed as being unusually fit for his age. He said he had some time to prepare and made an effort to get into shape. Dillahunt said the atmosphere on set helped make the experience easier, adding that the cast and crew were supportive and had a good sense of humour. He also felt the scene worked within the story, which made the experience more enjoyable. Poorna Jagannathan, who plays William's wife, Zoe Macon, joked about the scene, saying the cast simply laughed at Dillahunt. Lanterns follows Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate mysterious crimes in rural Nebraska. The series also stars Kelly Macdonald, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion and J. Alphonse Nicholson. New episodes of Lanterns air Sundays on HBO and stream on HBO Max.
