Retired UFC fighter Diego Sanchez spent the night in jail after he was arrested on drunk driving charges in Soccoro County, N.M., on Monday.
Online court records show that Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with aggravated driving under the influence (blood alcohol level greater than .16). He was also charged with a probation violation.
KOB4 in New Mexico first reported the arrest.
It was just in February that Sanchez struck a plea deal with prosecutors in Albuquerque, N.M. after he was arrested in 2025 on multiple gun charges. As part of his plea deal, Sanchez pled guilty to a charge of shooting at or from a motor vehicle with no great bodily harm, which is classified as a fourth-degree felony
Sanchez was ultimately handed a sentence of five years of supervised probation as a result.
Part of the condition of his probation is that Sanchez was ordered to stay away from alcohol so this latest arrest could potentially trigger a whole new set of problems for the veteran fighter.
As of now, no bond has been set for Sanchez's release and he remains in lockup in Soccoro County Jail.
