Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $19 million to $17.12 billion during the week ended August 28, providing a modest boost to the country's external liquidity position. According to the latest weekly foreign exchange reserves statement issued by the SBP, Pakistan's total foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.53 billion as of August 28. The State Bank said its foreign exchange reserves increased by $19 million during the week, reaching $17.1178 billion. The central bank stated that 'SBP's foreign exchange reserves increased by $19 million to $17.1178 billion during the week ended August 28, 2026.' The latest increase follows another rise recorded a week earlier, indicating continued improvement in the central bank's reserve position. Pakistan's total reserves reach $22.53bn Pakistan's total foreign exchange reserves, including holdings maintained by commercial banks, stood at $22.53 billion as of August 28. Of the total, net foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks amounted to $5.41 billion. The figures comprise the SBP's reserves of $17.1178 billion and commercial banks' net foreign exchange reserves of $5.41 billion. The latest increase follows a $17 million rise reported by the SBP for the week ended August 21, 2026. At that time, the central bank said its foreign exchange reserves had increased to $17.10 billion. The latest $19 million increase takes the SBP's reserves to $17.12 billion, continuing the recent upward movement in Pakistan's foreign exchange holdings.
