NBA legend Charles Barkley compares Spurs' Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper to Warriors' Steph, Klay

The San Antonio Spurs have built an impressive group of young talent, and they are developing those players together in hopes of eventually turning into a dynasty. The Spurs lost in five games in the NBA Finals this past season, giving the young team even more motivation heading into the future. The organization only got better this summer with its additions. During the Finals, the Spurs began to see just how dominant Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle could be together. 'Combine Harper's play with backcourt mate Stephon Castle's 17 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and San Antonio's starting guards outperformed Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort. This Spurs roster is taking shape and revealing what's possible now and also in the future – a credit to the early 20-somethings. Harper turned 20 on March 2, and Castle, the 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year, is 21. They were part of a Game 1 Spurs starting lineup with an average age of 22 years, 346 days,' NBA.com's Jeff Zillgitt wrote. The duo played extremely well in the Finals considering their youth. NBA reporter Evan Sidery mentioned that the future of the Spurs could involve Harper and Castle starting together. 'Watching how Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle are playing in a must-win spot in the NBA Finals, the clock is officially ticking with De'Aaron Fox as the Spurs' lead ball handler. It's officially time in 2026-27 to fully hand the backcourt keys over to Harper and Castle,' Sidery posted. Recently, on the Bill Simmons Podcast, NBA legend Charles Barkley mentioned Castle and Harper. He revealed that he believes they could become the next Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. 'If I'm a guard in the NBA, I do not want to see them boys the next 10 years. They're going to be the new Steph and Klay,' Barkley said. This is quite the comparison for the two emerging stars. Harper and Castle complement each other extremely well, and San Antonio hopes to keep the duo together for the rest of their careers. Getting shouted out is one thing, but getting compared to arguably the best duo in NBA history is another.
