Trump announces AI force, seeks 'High IQ' candidate for AI Czar role US President Donald Trump has officially announced plans to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) Force modeled on the Space Force and stated he would soon hire an AI czar to oversee the administration's approach to the fledgling field of AI. Taking to Truth Social on Saturday, Trump announced his plans, stating the government would support the AI industry while ensuring that wrongdoing is acknowledged via existing criminal and civil laws. Currently, further details regarding the proposed force's budget or structure remains under wraps. Moreover, Trump argued that criticism of AI is part of a wider political campaign against cutting-edge technology. He further stated AI could account for nearly 25% of the US gross domestic item and claimed the US is ahead of China in the intensifying competition of AI. The AI czar position remained vacant since the month of March, when David Sacks stepped away from his White House role overseeing AI and cryptocurrency policy. Sacks remains involved with the administration as co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. To apply for the significant position, Trump only highlighted one certain qualification for the upcoming appointment, writing that 'only High I.Q. individuals need to apply.' The announcement comes as several AI researchers continue to raise some concerns highlighting the risks that the growing use of advanced technology may pose on everyone. Recently, Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei also called for the slowdown of AI, with other leading players of the industry also underscoring the severe risks of AI. It is pertinent to mention Trump has yet to officially announce the date for naming the new AI czar and other updates.
