In Zakarpattia, two servicemen were exposed, suspected of organizing the illegal smuggling of a conscript across the state border of Ukraine outside a checkpoint for 14 thousand euros.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, 12 thousand euros of this amount was supposed to be the payment for crossing the border, and another 2 thousand euros for transportation from Vinnytsia region to Zakarpattia.
Part of the funds — 2300 US dollars — the conscript transferred to a crypto wallet. The rest was to be handed over after boarding the vehicle.
As reported by the SBI, the servicemen transported the "client" in an official vehicle, but near one of the control posts in Zakarpattia region, they were stopped and exposed by border guards.
The men were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — organization of illegal smuggling of persons across the state border of Ukraine, facilitating its commission by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and for mercenary motives.
The article's sanction provides for up to 9 years of imprisonment.
Currently, law enforcement officers are identifying all participants in the scheme and the role of each of them.
