Love. Love has a crazy way of finding someone. It shows up at your doorstep on a random Thursday. It shows up like a gift from Santa after you have been good the whole year. At least for me, that is what happened.
Meeting him felt like a crazy occurrence. He was there and I just happened to be passing by. He was and is a perfect gentleman. I was his before I even knew it. He was mine before I could even see him.
After years of fearing love, he came and stepped up. He is patient, he is sweet and he never gets tired of my shenanigans. I realised that I, of all people, deserve love. I do, just like everyone else so I learnt how to adapt to it. I learnt to open up my heart for him and everyone else because I deserve it.
I am deconstructing the whole thought of 'the people you love always leave' because what if,for once, they stay? And instead of thinking against myself or thinking the worst, I choose to think positively about it all. I choose to do it scared, I choose to let go and let be because why not?
Being loved by him makes me feel seen and understood. Sometimes, things get tough but we always bounce back. He treats me with utmost respect. He communicates adequately. He never lets me sleep angry. He makes me laugh even when crying seems like the easiest option. I am loved now. I am prioritised now. I am happy now. I am worshipped now.
His love shows up in the smallest of ways. It shows up in the photos he takes of me. It shows up in the opening of doors he does. It shows up in how he takes care of me when I am drunk. It shows up in his trust. It shows up in the samosas he buys for me. It shows up in the love letters he writes for me. It shows up in how he understands my moods and soothes me. He understands that I am all bark and no bite.
It is truly the little things. The being kissed like he cannot get enough, the being hugged like I am a dream come true, the being loyal to each other because no one else really matters. It is the massages I get when I am painting the town red. It is the foot rubs I get when my legs get swollen. It is how he explains everything so that I do not overthink. It is the holding hands while on walks because he knows how much I love that.
All I can hope is, he feels what I feel too. All I can hope is he knows how important he is. All I can hope for is for him to remember that he is never alone as long as I am here. I hope he knows I care. I hope he knows he made me have a whole other perspective on love, the best perspective really.
Cheers to love and a whole other perspective of love.
