Amazon India has announced its decision to create more than 160,000 job opportunities for the festive season.
The additions are set to support Amazon's operations across pan-India, contributing to the ecommerce and quick commerce business.
Both direct and indirect jobs will be generated by the company's initiative, spanning 400 cities in India, including Varanasi, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ranchi and Salem.
Companies face huge demand increases during the festive period and Amazon India's new employees will help pick, pack, ship and deliver customer orders to meet the surge.
Abhinav Singh, VP of operations at Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, says: "We are committed to providing customers across every pin-code in India with fast and reliable deliveries this festive season. To meet the anticipated increase in customer demand, we have created over 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across our operations network."
