Looking for veteran depth off the bench heading into a playoff run, the Lynx have signed former No. 3 overall pick Aari McDonald. The 28-year-old guard last played for the Indiana Fever, where she averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 20 games before a broken foot ended her 2025 season. She has remained a free agent throughout the season due to a right lower-body injury she sustained during the Unrivaled season. EVERYONE SAY HEY AARI pic.twitter.com/DcSjxm6crU McDonald has played for Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Indiana in her five-year career. She's averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.0 rebounds. She last appeared in the playoffs during the 2023 season with the Atlanta Dream. The 5-foot-6 guard was the third overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft after a decorated collegiate career. McDonald helped lead Arizona to the 2021 national championship game, where the Wildcats lost 54-53 to Stanford. McDonald led all players in the title game with 22 points. McDonald was named AP All-American twice and All-Pac-12 three times. Rookie point guard Eliska Joklova was waived to make room on the roster for McDonald. The Lynx are in the midst of an 18-day break due to the FIBA World Cup tournament currently happening in Germany. Minnesota has the best record (31-9) in the league and has secured a spot in the WNBA playoffs. This article first appeared on Bring Me The Sports and was syndicated with permission.
