Foundation awards scholarships to 150 children in Delta About 150 children have benefited from scholarship awards and other youth-focused initiatives by the Princess Nyerovwo Iyedo Foundation in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. The beneficiaries received support during a programme held at the Ethiope East LGA Secretariat on Thursday, attended by students, youths, political leaders and community stakeholders. Princess Nyerovwo Iyedo, who personally financed the scholarship scheme, awarded three-year educational scholarships to selected beneficiaries to reduce the financial burden on their families. The initiative aims to support education and human capital development in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's MORE Agenda. The gesture attracted commendation from community leaders and residents, with some attendees also urging Iyedo to consider taking a more active role in politics, citing her growing impact at the grassroots. The APC leader in Ethiope East, Chief Bernard Edewo, commended Iyedo for her contribution to the community. Similarly, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Akpodiogaga Sunny Emeyese, described her investment in education and youth development as worthy of emulation. Other dignitaries at the event included Elder Sir Bernard Agbomiyeri, Hon. Ejioke Ukueku, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, Chief Richard Abbey, Rev. Monday Oghenevwogaga Orido and Comrade Eyakwaire Vincent. Speaking on the initiative, Iyedo said her passion for helping people motivated the scholarship scheme. She pledged that her foundation would continue to support students, women, widows, youths and small business owners through programmes designed to create opportunities and improve livelihoods. According to her, the foundation would sustain its interventions while complementing the development efforts of the Delta State and Federal Governments. The event also featured entertainment and creative performances, with Nigerian artiste Ekwe thrilling guests with an energetic performance. Princess Iyedo, who is also a performing artiste, presented her latest single, while a student dance group showcased its talent. A student of Princess Bilingual School also delivered a speech that earned a standing ovation from guests.
