ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad has arrested four suspects allegedly involved in defrauding citizens by offering fake visa and air ticket services through WhatsApp groups. According to an NCCIA official, the suspects were operating a financial fraud network under the cover of a fake travel agency and attracting customers by advertising visa and air ticket services on WhatsApp. He said the suspects collected payments from citizens seeking visas and air tickets but allegedly provided them with forged travel documents instead of genuine services. The official said the suspects used WhatsApp groups to approach potential customers and convince them to transfer money for travel-related services. NCCIA Islamabad had arrested four suspects and registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the fraud and identify any other persons involved in the network.
