The Dent Schoolhouse, a century-old haunted house in Green Township, is set to open for its 30th season Friday. Advertisement This year, they're returning with "significant changes" including renovations and an upgraded experience. 'Thirty seasons is a milestone that means more to us than we can put into words,' said Bud Stross, co-owner of Dent. 'Dent has become part of Cincinnati's Halloween tradition, and we would not be here without the guests, actors and team members who have supported us year after year. The best way we know how to celebrate is by continuing to raise the bar and create an experience worthy of the people who keep coming back.' New this year will be an immersive audio system, complete basement renovation and transformed finale. The new audio system will allow music and sound effects to surround guests while powerful bass adds another layer of suspense. In the newly revamped basement, thrill-seekers will find a more detailed set up with 3,000 individually hand-cut foam bricks and approximately 80 hand-sculpted wooden timbers. 'It's all about immersion,' said Stross. 'We want guests to do more than hear the music and sound effects as they walk through the attraction. We want them to feel the sound around them and experience the tension that creates.' Thrill-seekers will also be introduced to a new character, Mr. Shady, described as a mysterious 'dream dealer' with oversized hands and a skull-like face.
