PTA begins inspecting power backup measures at telecom towers

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has begun physical checks of power backup arrangements at telecom towers to help maintain mobile services during power outages. Teams from PTA's zonal offices in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Muzaffarabad have started visiting towers in urban and rural areas in their Zones. They are checking batteries, generators and solar power systems, with particular attention to areas affected by load shedding. Local representatives and their nominees have accompanied the teams to identify places where mobile signals become weak or services are unavailable during power outages. The PTA chairman Maj. Gen. Hafeez Ur Rehman (Retired), HI (M), SI has directed zonal offices to continue the checks regularly.
