Independent Report QUETTA , Sept 7: The inquiry commission probing the terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam Pumping Station in Ziarat district has continued its open-court proceedings, with the Police Department nominating a four-member liaison team to coordinate and follow matters related to the commission's work. The proceedings were conducted under the supervision of Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Rana. Several registered witnesses also appeared before the commission and recorded their statements as part of the ongoing inquiry. AIG Legal CPO Quetta Shafiq-ur-Rehman appeared on behalf of the Police Department and submitted an order issued by Inspector General of Police Balochistan on September 1, 2026. The order was issued in response to a directive passed by the commission on August 27, 2026, under which a four-member police liaison team was required to monitor and coordinate matters concerning the inquiry proceedings. The liaison team comprises DIGP Sibi Range Pervez Khan Umrani, AIGP Legal CPO Quetta Shafiq-ur-Rehman, SSP Investigation CTD Balochistan Syed Fazil Bukhari and DSP/SP Ziarat Abdul Malik Durrani. During the hearing, DSP/SP Ziarat informed the commission that police operations against terrorist elements were being intensified as part of the ongoing strategy to counter militant activities. The commission said several registered witnesses appeared before it and recorded their statements, contributing to the proceedings of the inquiry into the attack. Further proceedings were adjourned until 1pm on September 9, 2026.
